GRAPE is honoured to have organised a two-day High-level Visit of the Hon’ble Minister, Mr. Balaram Adhikari, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Reduction (MoLCPA) to Bheriganga and Birendranagar, Surkhet from September 25 to 26, 2024. The objective of this visit is to showcase the project’s interventions, highlight key results, and progress achieved.

 

The delegation included- Mr. Arjun Prasad Pokharel, Secretary of MoLCPA, Mr. Madan Koirala, Joint Secretary MoLCPA; Mr. Shree Ram Thakur, Joint Secretary MoLCPA; Dr. Benjamin Seidel, Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany, Kathmandu; Dr. Geertrui Louwagie, Deputy Head of Cooperation, EU; Mr. Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Undersecretary, MoLCPA; and Mr. Bishal Gaire, Press Advisor to the Minister.

 

During the visit, the Hon’ble Minister engaged with local stakeholders, including farmers, cooperative members and private sector, to better understand the on-the-ground impact of the project’s initiatives. The delegation toured various project sites such as The Organic Valley, Bheriganga-5, Damargaun Irrigation Canal, Bishadi Nyunikaran Farmers Group and Small Farmer Agriculture Cooperative in Uttarganga, where they witnessed the ongoing activities, specifically around climate resilient value chain development.
