Five-day Mini-Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantage (PACA) conducted in Himali Rural Municipality, Bajura

25 Mar, 2024
With the aim of supporting municipalities in their commitment to sustainable local economic development (LED) efforts, a five-day Mini-Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantage (PACA) was conducted in Himali Rural Municipality, Bajura, supported by the GRAPE.
50 diverse participants, including government members, private sector representatives, farmers, and community leaders, were engaged in the process, where 19 interviews were conducted with local lead farmers, ranging from goat/sheep herders to traders, elected representatives, and community-based organizations. Similarly, three workshops were conducted for the identified sub-sectors: potato, medicinal plants, and goat/sheep.
In addition to this, on-site field visits were carried out with the involvement of the mini-PACA team and facilitators. With the completion of PACA, Palika is now well-positioned to leverage the insights gained to implement Innovative Local Economic Development (ILED) initiatives effectively. This next phase will involve translating the findings from PACA into actionable strategies and projects that will stimulate the local economy and enhance its resilience.
