Provincial-level Knowledge Sharing Workshop

In collaboration with GRAPE and ICIMOD, Far-Western University organised a province-level knowledge sharing workshop on August 30, 2024 in Dhangadhi bringing together 38 representatives from various sectors, including government officials, private sector entities, NGOs, INGOs, academia, and young researchers from the Sudurpashchim Province.
 
The event focused on presenting findings from action research in the form of technical papers, listed as follows:
1. Study of differences in yield with and without the adoption of 3G cutting in cucumber
2. Varietal performance of Proso millet
3. Red ant management in potato-efficacy of different management practices (extract of stinging nettle, Yucca Sp., Banmara etc/ flooding of field before plantation)
4. Identification of Indigenous climate resilient agronomic practices for improving quality and yield of vegetables in Far Western
5. Performance of proso-millet genotypes
 
As a result, three knowledge products have been developed:
1. A guide to proso millet cultivation in Nepal
2. 3G cutting technologies in cucumber
3. Panchakavya (Indigenous biological pesticide) production and use
 
Participants engaged in discussions, providing feedback and recommendations for future research. Likewise, the honorable Agriculture Minister committed a significant funding for continued action research, and the private sector, including Unique Seed Company, showed interest in future collaborations.
