Third Joint Learning and Monitoring Visit

05 Dec, 2023
GRAPE's third Joint Learning and Monitoring Visit across Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, in Bajura, Dailekh and Surkhet districts brought together government officials from Ministry of Land Management Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoLCPA), Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives -MOLMAC Karnali Province, and MOLMAC Sudurpaschim Province, alongside partner NGOs, INGOs, and representatives from ICIMOD and GIZ. The visit included meeting with the municipal officials, on-site assessments and interactive sessions with the farmers.

Key observations highlight the impact of engaging with municipalities, fostering a sense of shared ownership enabling the promotion of Climate Resilient Activities (#CRA). Strengthening the capacities of Local Governments in CRA has further prepared them to assume responsibilities independently beyond the project duration.

The community also demonstrates motivation and enthusiasm for the new CRA technologies, showcasing an openness to learning and adoption. However, the growing trend of outmigration has led to a shortage of individuals available for agricultural activities. Additionally, there is also a recognized need for improved market linkages and exploration of alternatives to plastic tunnels.
